Game #58: Boston Bruins vs New York Rangers Open Thread

After a successful road trip through that saw the Rangers earn wins in Winnipeg, Minnesota, and Columbus, the team has returned home to defend home ice against the NHL’s best team this afternoon. As part of Hockey Day in America, David Quinn’s squad will welcome he Boston Bruins into Madison Square Garden in front of a national audience on NBC.

The Bruins taken the first two games of the season series between these Original Six rivals, outscoring the Rangers by a 10-6 margin thus far. A 7-4 beatdown on Broadway back on October 27th paved the way for a hard fought, 3-2 contest that saw the two teams need overtime to decide a winner. Now, the Rangers will look to salvage the season series and avoid a sweep.

Player to Watch: Chris Kreider

In what could be something of an audition for his future team, Chris Kreider is the player to watch against the Bruins. The Boxford, Massachussetts native has been on a tear as of late, racking up 11 of his 23 goals over the last 15 games of the season. While almost every upper echelon team has been connected to Kreider, the Bruins have been one of the most heavily rumored teams to be interested in a deal for Kreider. Keep an eye on Kreider has he looks to make his presence on the ice felt.
