Lindy Ruff Officially Announced as New Devils Head Coach

Yesterday’s report has become official this morning

As Kevin Weekes reported last night, Lindy Ruff is set to leave the New York Rangers bench and head across the river to helm the New Jersey Devils. This morning, the New Jersey Devils made the move official with a press release.

It will be very interesting to see how young centers Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier adapt to Lindy Ruff’s style and tactics and will definitely add some more fuel to the Devils/Rangers rivalry. As for the Rangers, head coach David Quinn now has a big spot to fill in this coaching staff as Ruff was primarily responsible for the team’s defensive and penalty kill schemes. For now, at least, it looks like the Blueshirts are promoting from within as Hartford Wolf Pack head coach Gord Murphy is getting called up to fill Ruff’s spot on the bench effective immediately.

Stick around for more updates and analysis on what this move means for the Rangers going forward.
