After a four game road trip that saw the Rangers sweep eastern Canada (as well as Nashville) and earn eight points, the Blueshirts have returned home for yet another meeting with a Canadian team. For the first time in over three years, the Calgary Flames will come in to Madison Square Garden to square off with the Blueshirts. The Flames last played at the Garden on October 21st, 2018, and while the Rangers have made a pair of trips to Calgary since then, the COVID-19 pandemic and the necessary schedule workarounds have resulted in Calgary staying away from New York.
While the Blueshirts snatched victory from the jaws of defeat against Ottawa to conclude their road trip, Gerard Gallant’s squad will need to play a more complete 60 minutes if they’d like to extend their winning streak to five consecutive games.
Player to Watch: Barclay Goodrow
While the six year, $21.6 million contract he signed with the Rangers has been much maligned, Goodrow came up big on Saturday with the game winning goal to complete New York’s comeback from a 2-0 deficit with less than 6:00 to go in the third period. Look for Goodrow to build off his momentum from last game and be a key player against Darryl Sutter’s defensively stingy Flames squad.
Enjoy the game!
