Game #16: New York Rangers vs Washington Capitals Open Thread

Saturday afternoon hockey is back, and the Rangers are set to reunite with the Washington Capitals for their second meeting of the season. Today’s game was supposed to be the first of a back to back set in our nation’s capital, but tomorrow’s scheduled game was pushed back to the night of March 20th.

That leaves David Quinn’s squad with three days off following today’s game, so the team will want to put forth an effort to be proud of, rather than a shoddy performance to think about for the next three days. Igor Shesterkin will making another start in net for the Blueshirts, as he seems to have successfully staked his claim to being the team’s top goaltender.

Player to Watch: Adam Fox

On Thursday night in Philadelphia, Fox stepped up in a major way in the absence of Jacob Trouba. With the right side of New York’s blue line depleted, Fox logged 30:17 of ice time against the Flyers. Fox became the first Ranger to skate over 30:00 in a regular season game since Dan Girardi accomplished the feat on November 5th, 2014. While he won’t approach that many minutes again, keep an eye on Fox to see how he holds up as today’s game progresses.

Enjoy the game!
