Game #30: New York Rangers vs Washington Capitals Open Thread

After last night’s heartbreaking defeat, the Rangers will need to have short memories and prepare themselves for round two against the Washington Capitals. Kris Knoblauch’s squad saw a 1-0 lead after two periods vanish in a span of minutes thanks to heroics from Alexander Ovechkin, and his two goals held up as the Blueshirts fell by a 2-1 margin. The team deserved a better fate last night, but none of that will matter once the puck drops at Capital One Arena tonight.

This will be the fourth time the Rangers and Capitals have met this season, with the Rangers winning the first two contests before Washington’s most recent victory. A win tonight will go a long way towards securing an eventual victory in the eight game season series for the Blueshirts.

Player to Watch: Brett Howden

After spending a night in the press box recently, Brett Howden has responded with his most dominant offensive stretch of the season. The rugged center recorded assists in back to back games against Philadelphia immediately after being scratched, but had a tough night last night by being on the ice for both goals Washington scored. Once again skating on the 4th line, look for Howden to assert himself with a strong bounce back effort tonight.

Enjoy the game!
