Game #42: New York Rangers vs New Jersey Devils Open Thread

In their first game following the trade deadline, the Rangers are set to begin a four game set against the New Jersey Devils, Having previously played their Hudson River rivals four times earlier this season, these next four games will represent the end of the season series between the two teams. However, these four games will be against a much different Devils team than the one David Quinn’s squad saw earlier in the season.

Nikita Gusev, Travis Zajac, Kyle Palmieri, and Sami Vatanen have all left the team for greener pastures since New York’s last meeting with them. The Devils also brought in Jonas Sigenthaler from Washington in an attempt to shore up their defensive corps. With the Rangers four points out of a playoff spot as of tonight, the time is now for them to rack up wins against an inferior opponent and make their playoff push.

Player to Watch: Libor Hajek

In the wake of the team’s decision to sign Zac Jones to an entry-level contract, the left side of New York’s has become even more crowded. With Ryan Lindgren and K’Andre Miller already entrenched as lineup regulars, Hajek could find himself out of the lineup sooner rather than later if he continues to play as poorly as he has recently this season throughout his young career. Keep an eye on Hajek tonight.

Enjoy the game!
