Game #37: New York Rangers vs Buffalo Sabres Open Thread

After playing the Sabres into overtime in something of a cruel April Fool’s joke, the Rangers are back in action for yet another matchup in Buffalo. While the Sabres struggled through a majority of the season, the team has gone on a bit of a hot streak lately, as they’ve earned points in each of their last three games. Even with the Sabres going through the motions at this point, David Quinn will need to keep his team focused against a lesser opponent in order to earn two points and keep pace with the Boston Bruins, who won earlier today and hold the 4th and final playoff spot in the MassMutual East Division.

Player to Watch: Vitali Kravtsov

The time has come for Kravtsov’s long-awaited NHL debut. The 9th overall pick of the 2018 Entry Draft will skate on a line with Filip Chytil and Alexis Lafreniere, as the Rangers intend to show the spoils of their rebuild and subsequent youth movement. If there was ever a game for this trio to do well, it’d be tonight against a team straddling the line of NHL-caliber in the Sabres. Kravtsov will be wearing #74 as he did during his time in last season’s training camp, so keep an eye on him tonight.

Enjoy the game!
