Agent: Rumors of Lindberg Move to KHL are False

Oscar Lindberg, a top prospect in the New York Rangers' system, will not be leaving the team for the KHL, contrary to media reports in Russia.

Blueshirt Banter was tipped off yesterday that rumors would soon become public of Rangers' prospect reportedly leaving the team and joining AK Bars of the KHL for next season. Sure enough, Russian news source Business Gazetta published a report early this morning claiming that Lindberg's move was done and he would be joining the KHL club.

Lindberg's agent, Michael Reander, denied the report when reached via email for comment.

"He wants to have a good playoff with Hartford," Reander informed Blueshirt Banter. "Furthermore, his plans are to stay in North America and nothing else."

Lindberg, 23, made his NHL debut with the Rangers earlier this season and has raised heads with his play in the AHL. He currently has 10 points in 11 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack, who begin the Eastern Conference Finals tonight against the Manchester Monarchs.

This serves as yet another reminder that unfounded rumors are just that and to not believe everything you hear. Barring any summer surprises, Lindberg figures to be a strong candidate to earn a spot on the Rangers next October.
