The Hartford Wolf Pack kicked off a four-game swing through Pennsylvania on Wednesday night. They started the trip in Hershey, visiting the Bears for the first matchup between the teams.

60 minutes would not be enough to determine a winner, and the teams went to overtime. In the extra session, the Wolf Pack secured the extra point, beating the Bears 3-2.

Upper Broeck

The Wolf Pack played a strong opening period on the road. They managed 11 shots on Clay Stevenson, but the Hershey netminder turned all of them aside.

With just ten seconds to play in the first period, the Bears broke the ice. David Gucciardi sniped a shot through traffic and by Callum Tung, giving Hershey the first lead of the game. They'd take that lead into the first intermission.

Hershey came out of the break with fire and doubled the lead early in the second period. Andrew Cristall buried a slick feed from Bogdan Trineyev to push the lead to two.

However, the Wolf Pack would finally respond just over the halfway mark of the middle frame. Adam Sýkora swiped a puck at neutral ice and slipped it to Dylan Roobroeck working into the zone. Roobroeck got it to the forehand, worked into the slot, and rifled a shot over the blocker of Stevenson to get the Wolf Pack on the board.

The goal was Roobroeck's eighth of the campaign and gave the Wolf Pack the momentum they needed.

Beebs > Bears

Just over two minutes later, the Wolf Pack tied the score at two. Casey Fitzgerald threaded a pass to Brett Berard at neutral ice, and the third-year forward worked into the Hershey zone. Berard curled to the slot and fired a shot that fooled Stevenson, finding the twine and drawing the teams even.

The goal was Berard's fourth of the season and gave him points in his last three games - Berard has recorded three points (2 G, 1 A) over that stretch.

Neither team could break the tie throughout the remainder of the period, sending the game to the second intermission with the score tied at two apiece.

Sweet Victory

Neither team could find the net in the final 20 minutes, granting each side a point and sending the game to overtime.

Hershey got a net-front chance early in the extra session, but Tung denied the opportunity. From there, Hartford would control play. Eventually, Derrick Pouliot found Trey Fix-Wolansky, who darted into the Hershey zone. Fix-Wolansky slipped the puck to Berard, who shoveled a backhander on net. Stevenson made the initial stop, but Berard poked the rebound through the netminder to secure the victory and the extra point for the Wolf Pack.

The goal was Berard's second game-winning tally of the season. Since turning professional at the end of the 2022-23 season, Berard has recorded 13 game-winning goals, the most by a Wolf Pack player in that span.
