Summer Hockey Musings: Chytil Opens Scoring In Four Nations

The Four Nations Tournament has kicked off, and Filip Chytil is on the top line for the Czech Republic. In the Czech’s opening game against Finland he opened the scoring.

Something to keep in mind about Chytil: Remember that he is one of the youngest players drafted this year. As a 17-year-old, he’s playing top-line minutes for the U20 group here for the Czech Republic. Not only is this amazing experience for him, but as you see his talent remember that he’s doing it at least a year behind everyone else. One of the biggest selling points about Chytil right now is the expected growth from someone who is both as young as he is and as experienced as he’s been. By the time he’s 19 he will have FOUR professional years of experience under his belt. That’s relatively unheard of.

Calle Sjalin is also playing in the tournament, playing top-pairing minutes for Sweden. We didn’t get any real updates from that game, but him playing atop this group is a very, very good sign.

The Rangers also have a group of prospects playing in Champions League Hockey — an tournament that involves teams from all over Europe.

Lias Andersson played with Frolunda, and had a solid game where he hit the post. Alex Nunn continues to be a vital prospect asset that you should all be following.

In other CHL action, Rangers prospect Dominik Lakatos had a rough first period (14 penalty minutes) but came up big to score the go-ahead goal deep in the second period.
