Drury Out Six Weeks, Del Zotto Stays

According to Andrew Gross and several other sources Chris Drury is going to undergo knee surgery and will miss the next six weeks.

Andrew Gross
Chris Drury (left knee) will be out six weeks. Will undergo surgery.

We'll update and provide more information as it becomes available. Fluid had been drained from Drury's knee recently. Drury played in 23 games this season and has registered 4 assists and 23 shots. To say this has been a rough season for Chris Drury would be an understatement. If Drury is gone for six weeks the Rangers should look for him to return sometime in mid-to-late March. Coach John Tortorella voiced his displeasure with everyone who thought the Drury injury was fabricated. I will be the first to apologize for insinuating the 'convenience' of the injury, I wish Drury the best of health and a fast and complete recovery. The Rangers could use him in the playoffs. In other news Michael Del Zotto apparently impressed coach John Tortorella with his play enough to stay with the big club. The news is that he will not be sent back down to the Whale. Steve Eminger has been a healthy scratch at the expense of Del Zotto getting playing time. What this means for Eminger we will have to wait and see, there is no reason to think why the Rangers wouldn't hold onto him as a solid option for a seventh defender.

Also, Michael Del Zotto sticking with , according to John Tortorella. Not being sent down anytime soon.

UPDATE: Torts sounds off on Drury's injury (from the official site of the New York Rangers)

“He tried like hell to keep on playing, but it’s just gotten to the point that he can’t,” Tortorella told reporters at the MSG Training Center. “He tried to play on it. We tried playing him. It didn’t work out.”“They’re going to go in, scrape his knee, take a look at it,” Tortorella informed the media. “They really haven’t pinpointed anything. That guy has played hard for a long time and I just think it’s worn on him. It certainly has not been getting better.”The exact nature of the injury is not known at this time, but it is clear that Drury requires arthroscopic surgery to evaluate and hopefully fix what is preventing Drury from dressing for the Rangers. Chris Drury has missed 33 games due to injury this season.
