Game #10: Tampa Bay Lightning vs New York Rangers Open Thread
The New York Rangers are set to conclude their five game home stand tonight, as they’ll welcome Steven Stamkos, Nikita Kucherov, and the rest of the Tampa Bay Lightning to Madison Square Garden. After running away with the Presidents Trophy last season, the Lightning have had a bit of a slow start (by their lofty standards) to the season, coming into tonight’s game with a 5-3-2 mark.
The Rangers will look to end their home stand on a high note, as they’ve lost three of the first four games to compile a 1-2-1 record. The organization will also welcome Dan Girardi back into the building tonight, as he’ll be conducting a ceremonial puck drop to celebrate his retirement. Girardi played for the Rangers from 2007-2017, and spent the final two seasons of his career in Tampa, so it’ll be a reunion for both organizations.
Player to Watch: Filip Chytil
Following his recall from AHL Hartford yesterday, Chytil will be flanked by Chris Kreider and Pavel Buchnevich as he makes his season debut tonight. After dominating the AHL to the tune of a 3-6-9 stat line in nine contests, Chytil will look to get back on track on Broadway after being demoted for no apparent reason at the conclusion of training camp.
Enjoy the game!
