Game #12: Detroit Red Wings vs New York Rangers Open Thread

After a quick swing in and out of the State of Hockey, the Rangers have returned home for an Original Six matchup with the Detroit Red Wings. It’ll be New York’s “B” team once again as Igor Shesterkin, Filip Chytil, and Adam Fox remain out of the lineup for the time being.

Detroit entered the 2023-24 campaign destined to slog around the NHL’s mushy middle. A team that’s not good enough to be a top tier Cup contender, but as accumulated enough talent under general manager Steve Yzerman not to bottom out and at least remain competitive for large portions of the season. The Red Wings have done much better than that, entering tonight’s contest with a 7-4-1 record in the early goings. After a frustrating loss against Minnesota on Saturday, the Blueshirts need to get back in the win column.

Player to Watch: Kaapo Kakko

Peter Laviolette has opted for some line juggling in the wake of the injuries New York has suffered. Keep an eye on Kakko as the new look Rangers look to get back on track and earn another two points tonight.

Enjoy the game!
