The Blueshirts match up against the Edmonton Oilers for the second time this season after losing to them in their first matchup. The Rangers are looking to put together consecutive wins after coming away with a win against the Vancouver Canucks. After holding the Oilers to one goal, excluding empty netters, the Rangers defense will once again face the test of going up against Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.
The Rangers will keep the same lines as they did against the Canucks with Igor Shesterkin in net. While Shesterkin started off the season strong, he has allowed 11 goals in his last two starts. If the Rangers stand any chance against the Oilers, they will need the best version of Shesterkin.
Players to Watch: Vladislav Gavrikov and Adam Fox
Defense is going to be of the upmost importance when going up against the Oilers. Vladislav Gavrikov and Adam Fox have emerged as one of the top pairs in the league and will be a key factor in tonight's game. Gavrikov and Fox are fifth in the league in expected goals percentage with a minimum of 100 minutes played.
While we know Fox brings the offense, it is going to be primarily on Gavrikov to take care of things defensively. Against Vancouver, the pair only gave up one shot on goal while being on the ice for nine. These two must play their best if the Blueshirts hope to shut down the Oilers.
Enjoy the game!
