Game #16: New York Rangers vs Dallas Stars Open Thread

After crossing the Hudson River for a road game close to home two nights ago, the Blueshirts have traveled a bit farther for tonight’s contest. American Airlines Center in Dallas is the scene for the action as Rangers pay their yearly visit to Texas to take on Tyler Seguin, Jamie Benn, and the rest of the Dallas Stars.

After advancing to the Western Conference finals last season, the Stars have gotten off to a strong start in the first month and a half of the season. Dallas enters tonight atop the Central Division with an 11-4-1 record, and currently stands one point ahead of both the Colorado Avalanche and Winnipeg Jets. Tonight’s contest will be a battle of current division leaders between Dallas and the Metropolitan leading Rangers, so we should be gearing up for some high level hockey in the Lone Star State.

Player to Watch: Tyler Pitlick

The Blueshirts’ fourth line of Pitlick, Barclay Goodrow, and Jimmy Vesey was the key to New York’s victory on Saturday, as Vesey found the back of the net twice, including the game winning tally in the final minutes of the third period. Pitlick is the only former Star on the current roster, having spent the 2017-18 and 2018-19 campaigns in Dallas, so keep an eye on Pitlick as the Rangers look to push their point streak to 12 consecutive games.

Enjoy the game!
