Game #21: Detroit Red Wings vs New York Rangers Open Thread

Following up the Blueshirts’ disappointing defeat to the Buffalo Sabres two nights ago, Peter Laviolette’s squad will have a different look to it tonight as it prepare for yet another clash with an Atlantic Division foe. The Detroit Red Wings are in town for an Original Six matchup, and tonight will mark Adam Fox’s return to the lineup after finishing up a minimum length stay on long term injured reserve. However, Fox’s return is dampened by the loss of Kaapo Kakko, who as placed on LTIR in advance of tonight’s game after suffering a lower body injury on Monday, and he will be out indefinitely.

Detroit made a splash yesterday, as the Red Wings emerged as the winners of the Patrick Kane sweepstakes. Kane is yet to practice with his new team, and as such will not be making his Red Wings’ debut tonight in what would have been a fun wrinkle to this contest. Nevertheless, the Rangers will need to put Monday’s ugly loss behind them and bounce back tonight.

Player to Watch: Adam Fox

After missing the required minimum of ten games to necessitate an LTIR stint, Fox will return to the lineup tonight. The Rangers weathered the storm effectively in Fox’s absence, going 7-2-1 as the team’s best defenseman was out of commission. Keep an eye on Fox as he looks to knock off some rust from his time away and get back into game shape starting tonight.

Enjoy the game!
