Game #3: Arizona Coyotes vs New York Rangers Open Thread

After opening the 2023-24 campaign with a pair of road contests, the Blueshirts are set to kick off the home portion of the season tonight. The Arizona Coyotes are in town for their annual visit to New York, and Rangers will do their best to send the hometown crowd happy for the first time this season.

The first two games under Peter Laviolette have been a mixed a bag. The Rangers opened the season with a dominant win in Buffalo on Thursday, but played a sloppy, turnover filled game in Columbus on a night where Igor Shesterkin wasn’t as sharp as he usually is. A repeat of the Buffalo game will likely be what’s necessary to beat a Coyotes team that rallied from a 3-0 deficit to beat the New Jersey Devils 4-3 on Friday to begin their season.

Player to Watch: Nick Bonino

Another relatively new member of the Blueshirts, Bonino was among the players the team identified as a bargain bin candidate to provide some much needed depth towards the bottom of the lineup. A two time Stanley Cup champion during his time in Pittsburgh, Bonino has skated as New York’s 4th line center for the opening two games, and is slated to do so once again tonight. Keep an eye on Bonino as the Rangers look to get back into the win column against an undefeated Coyotes team.

Enjoy the game!
