Fresh off a 5-1 victory at Madison Square Garden featuring a goal from Igor Shesterkin, the New York Rangers are back at it tonight. The Rangers are set to take on the Detroit Red Wings, who will play their first regular season opener tonight. A win on the road tonight would give the Blueshirts a 2-1 record to start the season.
In the second half of a back-to-back, expect goaltender Dylan Garand to make his debut after being recalled due to the injury to Joonas Korpisalo. Aside from that, the Blueshirts are likely to deploy similar lines with Matt Rempe possibly drawing in for Jaroslav Chmelar. The Red Wings are without Dylan Larkin and Simon Edmondson who is still without a contract.
Where to Watch

Player to Watch: Gabe Perreault
The last time these two teams met, Gabe Perreault was able to find the back of the net three different times. While that is unlikely to happen tonight, he has the opportunity to build off a one-goal game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Perreault's goal came off a deflection from Adam Fox, once again demonstrating his ability to position himself well.
GREAT redirection by Gabe Perreault here for the goal 😯🚨 pic.twitter.com/8REbIIjokI

There was plenty of speculation and debate this offseason about what kind of player Perreault can develop into. Well now the season is here, and his play, good or bad, will determine the narrative around him and his next contract.
Enjoy the game!
