Game #31: Edmonton Oilers vs New York Rangers Open Thread

The Christmas break is fast approaching, but the Rangers will take the ice for a pair of games at Madison Square Garden before the holidays. The first of those games will be against Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and the rest of the Edmonton Oilers.

After an early season swoon, the Oilers opted to make a coaching change. Jay Woodcroft was shown the door, and Edmonton plucked Kris Knoblauch out of the Rangers’ organization to take over as their bench boss. Knoblauch has helped the Oilers get back into the playoff race, posting an 11-6-0 record since taking over a previously 3-9-1 Edmonton squad. Coming off a win over the New Jersey Devils, the Oilers are wrapping up their own set of back to back games tonight, so the Rangers have the rest advantage in this contest.

Player to Watch: Jacob Trouba

The Oilers bring plenty of offensive power every time they take the ice, so it’ll be up to the Blueshirts’ defense corps to stop their high octane attack. Jacob Trouba and the rest of the team’s defenseman will have their hands full, so keep an eye on the captain as he looks to set the tone for the Rangers.

Enjoy the game!
