Game #41: New York Rangers vs Vancouver Canucks Open Thread

After dropping the first two games of their western Canadian road trip, the Blueshirts will look to end the first half of the 2019-20 campaign on a high note in Vancouver. In a rematch of the 1994 Stanley Cup Finals, the Rangers will take on the Canucks at Rogers Arena tonight.

David Quinn’s squad is yet to find the win column all year, so a strong effort against the Canucks would go a long way towards earning two more standings points. To do so, they’ll have to overcome former Ranger J.T. Miller, who found his way to Vancouver via an offseason trade from the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Canucks’ decision to give up a 1st round selection in exchange for Miller was widely panned at the time, but Miller has emerged as one of Vancouver’s top players, notching 40 points in 41 games thus far.

Player to Watch: Marc Staal

After a pair of 9:00 PM games in Edmonton and Calgary, the Blueshirts are set to begin play at approximately 10:00 PM EST tonight. With the NFL Playoffs officially underway, and the game of the weekend happening concurrently with tonight’s Rangers game, staying up until tomorrow morning to watch these two teams probably isn’t the best idea in the world. If you opt to do that, you can spend your time keeping a close eye on Marc Staal.

Enjoy the game!
