It's game day in New York City as the Rangers are set to host the Buffalo Sabres, who have been red hot. The Sabres have won nine of their last 10 games and are looking to take down their instate rivals. The Rangers, well, have been the Rangers and are coming off a loss against the Utah Mammoth.
A lot is going on for the Rangers, who have placed Adam Fox and Igor Shesterkin on injured reserve. This led to the call-ups of Scott Morrow and Spencer Martin, but Brett Berard has been reassigned to the Hartford Wolf Pack. Rangers' captain J.T. Miller is also expected to draw back into the lineup after missing time with an upper-body injury.
Where to Watch
Cable/Network TV: MSG 2, NHL website, NHL app, and the Gotham Sports app
National Broadcast: ESPN+
Radio: 880 AM
Player to Watch: Jonathan Quick
With Shesterkin out, Jonathan Quick's job has changed overnight. Quick now slots into the number one goaltender spot for the first time this season. Quick has been impressive this season, posting a .919 save percentage and a 2.23 GAA. When he has been called on, he has performed, but that has been in a limited setting.
If the Rangers are going to weather the storm without their elite goaltender and elite defenseman, they need Quick to bring his best game. He has done it in a backup role, but can he do it as a starter?
Enjoy the game!
