Game #54: Montreal Canadiens vs New York Rangers Open Thread

Original Six action is set to kick off at Madison Square Garden tonight. The Rangers will look to maintain their winning ways  and push their ongoing steak up to six games with a win over Juraj Slafkovsky, Nick Suzuki, and the rest of the Montreal Canadiens.

Behind Montreal’s bench as head coach is former Ranger Martin St. Louis, someone who’s no stranger to bright lights and big moments between New York and Montreal. While the stakes of tonight’s matchup aren’t quite what they were when St. Louis helped the Blueshirts defeat the Canadiens in the 2014 Eastern Conference finals, both teams would still like to come away with a victory.

Player to Watch: Chris Kreider

The only Ranger still on the team that participated in that fateful 2014 series, Kreider has been a thorn in Montreal’s side throughout his time in the league. Whether it’s scoring goals or being tripped into star Montreal goaltenders after speeding by traffic cones masquerading as Montreal defenseman, Kreider always tends to impact these games. Keep an eye on him tonight.

Enjoy the game!
