Game #70: New York Rangers vs Colorado Avalanche Open Thread
After a statement win over the Dallas Stars 24 hours ago, the Rangers are set for what could be their toughest test before the end of the season. David Quinn’s squad is in the Mile High City tonight, as they’ll look to keep the ball rolling against Nazem Kadri, Ryan Graves, and the rest of the Colorado Avalanche. While any set of back-to-back games is a challenge, the Blueshirts will have to deal with the increased elevation that every trip into the Pepsi Center brings.
With a win tonight, New York can pull to within a single point of the Columbus Blue Jackets and Carolina Hurricanes, who are currently in possession of the Eastern Conference’s two Wild Card spots. While the team’s recent 1-4 stretch put a major dent in their playoff chances, earning another two unexpected points tonight would go a long way towards getting back on the right track.
Player to Watch: Steven Fogarty
Filip Chytil suffered a lower body injury during last night’s contest in Dallas, so the Rangers opted to recall Fogarty on an emergency basis. Fogarty appeared in six games on Broadway earlier this season, and has appeared in 17 games over the past three seasons for the Blueshirts without recording a point. Look for Fogarty to assert himself in what could be his final crack at establishing himself as a legitimate NHLer.
Enjoy the game!
