Game Thread: Rangers at Canucks

Something something remember 1994?

Tonight at 10:00 p.m. ET the Rangers will cross sticks with a team that has fewer points than they do in the standings: the Vancouver Canucks. Vancouver is 2-6-2 in their last 10 games and come in to tonight’s game hoping to avoid their third-consecutive loss.

The Canucks’ offense is led by rookie Elias Pettersson who has 26 goals and 32 assists in 58 games this season. He and Bo Horvat are the players to watch if and when the Canucks go on the power play. Together, they have 14 power play goals this year for Vancouver’s underwhelming power play.

Pettersson is one of three 20+ goal scorers on the Canucks this year — the other two are Horvat and Brock Boeser. All three young forwards will be on the ice tonight.

The Rangers come into tonight’s west coast showdown with an 11-17-5 record on the road. The Blueshirts defeated the Canucks back on Nov. 12 at the Garden by a score of 2-1. Rookie forwards Filip Chytil and Brett Howden were the goal-scorers in that game. Goaltender Henrik Lundqvist stopped 25 of the 26 shots he faced in what was the Rangers’ 18th game of the 2018-19 season.

Please use this as your open thread for tonight’s game.
