Group Donation to the Katie Moore Foundation

Let's go Banter.

If you have the time, please read this article in its entirety. It would mean a great deal to me.

When I'm not wasting countless hours of my day on Blueshirt Banter I'm on reddit. Reddit, for those of you that don't know, is... well, it's hard to put what reddit is into words so I'm just going to give you wikipedia's explanation of reddit:

"Reddit stylized as reddit, is an entertainment, social networking service and news website where registered community members can submit content, such as text posts or direct links. Only registered users can then vote submissions "up" or "down" to organize the posts and determine their position on the site's pages. Content entries are organized by areas of interest called "subreddits". -wikipedia

For the most part, reddit is a collection of kitty .gifs, inspiring pictures of the planet called EarthPorn, a great deal of NSFW material, memes of all kinds, and hilarious and breathtaking pictures posting by photographers or found somewhere online. However, there is a lot more to reddit than just a bunch of random obscure, funny, and inappropriate crap. What we are about to talk about now is one of the reasons why reddit (and the reddit community) has the potential to be simply amazing.

There is a subreddit called /r/rangers that is moderated by some outstanding Rangers fans. One of these moderators, who goes by "BetterCallStaal" (his twitter is: @ryanohan), had a great idea to tap into the Rangers fan community on the Rangers subreddit and organize a group donation to the Katie Moore Foundation. Here are some of Ryan's words from his reddit post as to why he decided to do this and how you can help:

"Hey everyone, so if you haven't noticed already, the Dominic/Katie Moore story is viewable here.

After hearing that Dom started a foundation in her honor, I was thinking it'd be a cool idea if we, as a community, did a group donation. The charity website can be found here.

Please don't feel obligated to donate. I know a lot of users on here are students and don't necessarily have much of an expendable income. That being said, any little bit you can donate will help" - Ryan (BetterCallStaal)

His idea has slowly started to spread all over the hockey subreddits on reddit. Our friends over at SavebyRichter.com made a post about it to reach some of their bloggers and now, I think, it is time for the Banter to follow suit and expose this great idea to you guys. This group donation was started in the hopes of uniting the reddit Rangers community into doing something positive. It's my opinion that we should take it to the next level and get the Blueshirt Banter community involved. I say this because I love this community and I know that we are capable of doing some great things if we work together. Together, let's work together to make something beautiful happen.

The Donation Page for the Katie Moore Foundation

As Ryan pointed out above, I know that a lot of you guys are students with very little cash to throw around on things like this even if you wanted to donate. For some of you money is tight right now for all kinds of reasons. If you can't support the idea by donation, you can support the idea by spreading the word about the Katie Moore Foundation and the effort by Rangers fans to show their support for Dom and Katie. Every person you tell makes a difference. Every dollar you can offer makes a difference. Tweet about it, tell your friends and family about it, and make facebook posts about it. Do whatever you can to get the word out so we can show our support for Katie and Dom and everyone who has had their lives touched by cancer of any and all kinds.

Your questions should go to Ryan on reddit via private message, via twitter, or by emailing him at the address you are about to see in the next sentence. And your donations, if you are not a registered reddit user (if you are a reddit user, just PM him your donation amount), can be told to Ryan by emailing him at RedditMooreDonation@gmail.com so he can keep a running tab of the amount that we have raised for the Katie Moore Foundation. You obviously don't have to tell Ryan how much you gave or what your name is, you can make it known that you donated but would like to remain anonymous or, of course, you can simply donate and keep it private. Whatever you do, it makes a big difference and will be a big help to the Katie Moore Foundation. If you have any questions that you want to ask me I'll do my best to answer them.

Just to be clear, when you are donating, you are sending no money to any third party (nothing goes to Ryan, myself, or anyone else), everything goes DIRECTLY to the Katie Moore Foundation. Where can you donate? Just click HERE. When you get in touch with Ryan about your donation, all you are doing is letting Ryan know via twitter, reddit, or email about the amount you donated so he can keep a running tab on what we collectively raised for the Katie Moore Foundation.

Thanks for your time guys and gals. Enjoy tonight's game.

Let's go Rangers. Let's go Banter.

Note: As of now, there is a "loose deadline" of May 28th.
