Joe's Reaction of the Week: This Could Be The Best Outcome
The Rangers aren’t just bad—they’re beyond saving, and that clarity might finally force real change.
It didn't need to be like this.
But it's a really good thing—long term—that it is.
The New York Rangers aren't just bad, they're atrocious. There is a difference, and the difference is a big one. Previous Rangers teams have been bad, but have won enough games to convince the brass to keep up appearances and make a run for it because, as the old New York Lottery slogan went, "Hey, you never know."
This New York Rangers proved the slogan wrong. You can know, and with this group you do know.
It's a blessing, really, to know the end is coming this far away. In a way, the end is already here, and we're just watching the train wreck happen in real time.
And I say to you again: This is a good thing.
If this did not happen, the Rangers would be continuing their "the East is weak and we can make a run" mantra that would have set the next three years up for a mid-off that crippled the organization for years to come. We have watched that movie before, have seen that bill come due, and it's never good. The hole the Rangers are already in is deep enough.
