As the New York Rangers are now one year out from The Memo, they are still struggling. Having just returned from a multi-game road trip during which many of the Rangers' weaknesses were exposed, Chris Drury must have been feeling the itch to do something about it once again. This time around, the moves appear to be relatively minor in comparison to last season.

It was announced earlier today that Juuso Parssinen was not skating at the Rangers' daily practice for roster management purposes. Whether that was leading up to a trade or assignment to the AHL was unknown at the time, but it appears we have our answer, at least for now.

Since being acquired from the Colorado Avalanche, Parssinen has been in and out of the lineup, and this year was no different. Playing in 14 of 24 games, Parssinen was often a healthy scratch and was inserted into the lineup in place of a scorned or injured player. This recent stretch, where Brett Berard was called up and played in place of Parssinen, was the writing on the wall.

This is either a vote of confidence in Berard or a permanent move to reduce the Rangers roster by one skater to build up more cap space for a bigger move down the line. Drury is considering all of his options, and assigning Parssinen to the Hartford Wolf Pack is the hand he's playing now.
