Klein Out Three-to-Four Weeks with ‘Upper-Body Injury’

The New York Rangers announced today that defenseman Kevin Klein will miss between three and four weeks with what is classified as an “upper-body injury.”

Klein was hit in the arm with an Alexander Ovechkin shot late in the third period of yesterday’s 3-1 win over the Washington Capitals.

Assuming the timeline is correct, Klein will be back sometime between April 2nd and April 9th. The Rangers’ regular season ends on April 11th and the NHL Playoffs begin on April 14th. Ideally, Klein will return in time to play a few games at the end of the season to shake the rust off, but in any case it seems probable that he’ll be back in time for the first round of the playoffs.

Earlier today I wrote more about Klein’s injury and how Matt Hunwick or Michael Kostka could fill in adequately.
