Matthew Robertson, Rangers Agree to 2-Year Contract Extension
The deal for Robertson, who made his NHL debut at the end of last season, is two-way contract in the first year, and a one-way contract in the second.

Since the Stanley Cup has been awarded, the rest of the league is waking from their slumber and sending this offseason into full swing. The New York Rangers are no exception as they have been quite busy since trading Chris Kreider and extending Matt Rempe. They continue to take care of business with the announcement that Matthew Robertson has signed a 2-year contract extension with the team.

Robertson was one of the Rangers' pending restricted free agents heading into the offseason. A former second round pick, Robertson just made his NHL debut this year in a pair of throwaway games at the end of this abysmal season. All things considered, Robertson looked quite good in those games and remains one of their best internal options to be a top pair AHL defenseman and first call-up as needed.
Robertson recorded a career-high 24 assists and 25 points (1 g, 24 a) in 60 games with the Wolf Pack this season. He's played in 250 games with Hartford over four seasons.

It's worth noting that the first year of this new deal is a two-way contract, but the in the second year it turns into a one-way contract. The AAV comes in at league minimum.
