Rangers deal Ryan Graves for Chris Bigras

The Rangers have dealt Graves to the Avalanche.

Ryan McDonagh wasn’t the only defenseman that the Rangers dealt today. The Blueshirts sent Ryan Graves, 22, to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for 23-year-old Chris Bigras.

Bigras was an early second round pick of the Avalanche in the 2013 Draft (32nd overall). Bigras had 71 points for the Owen Sound in the 2015-15 OHL season, but he has struggled to put up points with the Avalanche. Bigras has four points in 46 games of NHL action, including one assist in 15 games this season.

It wasn’t that long ago that Bigras was a prospect that the Avalanche organization was really excited about. Perhaps a change of scenery is exactly what he needs.

Graves was in his third season with the Wolf Pack. The 6-foot-5 defender has one of the best slap shots in the AHL, but his offensive production dipped this season. He was the 110th pick of the 2013 Draft.
