Jacob Trouba Fined $5,000 for Slashing Against St. Louis’ Vince Dunn

At the conclusion of last night’s 5-2 defeat in St. Louis, the Rangers and Blues got into a bit of a fracas. Jacob Trouba found himself at the center of the fracas, as he decided to take out his frustration on St. Louis Blues’ defenseman Vince Dunn. Trouba took a couple of hacks at Dunn’s legs, and things devolved from there:

Trouba and Dunn dropped the gloves, and Trouba was assessed a game misconduct after the final buzzer sounded on the Rangers’ defeat. Following the game, the league’s Department of Player Safety felt that the penalties weren’t enough punishment for Trouba, and acted accordingly:

After signing a $56 million contract with the Rangers over the summer, $5,000 isn’t much more than a drop in the bucket for Trouba, Still, the Blueshirts top defender will need to keep his emotions in check next time, as subsequent offenses could lead to more severe punshiments down the road.
