Tonight’s Lines for the Final Preseason Game

Tonight is the New York Rangers’ final preseason game. And, just as you might expect, the lineup is filled with players who are “on the bubble”.

Cristoval Nieves and Josh Jooris have missed time this preseason with injuries, but they are both in the lineup tonight for the Rangers. So too are Nathan Gerbe, Brandon Pirri, Michael Grabner, and Jesper Fast. The competition for spots on the fourth line is red hot.

We will also get another look at both Pavel Buchnevich and Jimmy Vesey before the regular season gets underway. Both youngsters have been pretty impressive even if they haven’t lit up the scoreboard like Mika Zibanejad and Pirri have.

The forwards:

Kreider-Zibanejad-Buchnevich

Vesey-Hayes-Gerbe

Miller-Jooris-Pirri

Grabner-Nieves-Fast

And on the blue line:

Staal-Holden

Skjei-Girardi

Clendening-Klein

So, we get another look at Adam Clendening on a blue line without Ryan McDonagh. I’m not sure what more Clendening has to do tonight to prove he deserves to be on the roster on opening night. He’s been absolutely fantastic in the preseason.

Nick Holden and Brady Skjei are important pieces to the Rangers’ defense. Keep a sharp eye on how they perform tonight. Skjei has had a tough preseason thus far, but keep in mind that he’s 22-years-old.

There’s no official word on who will be in net for the Rangers. I would imagine that Henrik Lundqvist gets another game in here before the regular season gets underway.

UPDATE:

Magnus Hellberg just hit the waiver wire, so we know our two goaltenders for tonight.
