New York Rangers News: Tanner Glass Clears Waivers And Is Assigned To The AHL
Tanner Glass has cleared waivers this afternoon and is officially bound for the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League.
The New York Rangers placed Tanner Glass on waivers yesterday afternoon, which signified that his time in New York was coming to an abrupt end. Just 24 hours later, Glass passed through the waiver wire unclaimed at noon, and is bound for the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League.
By going unclaimed at noon, the Rangers will still be on the hook for $500,000 of Glass' $1.45 million with him being assigned to the Hartford Wolf Pack. As a result, the Rangers will get $950,000 in cap relief, which gives them approximately $1.1 million in cap space.
This move will give the Rangers plenty of extra cap space moving forward, and also gives them extra breathing room in the event of injuries arising later on down the road. It also gives them a little extra wiggle room in the event that the Rangers make another significant move at the trade deadline.
So as it stands right now, Tanner Glass is officially Hartford bound and is no longer in the Rangers plans because of cap implications. The Rangers are now a better team than they were yesterday, and this allows them to roll out four solid lines on a nightly basis.
