Roster for Rangers preseason opener

Earlier today the Rangers announced the roster for tomorrow night’s preseason opener against the rival New York Islanders. At 7:00 p.m. tomorrow we’ll get to see a number of new faces including the Rangers seventh overall pick in the 2017 Draft, Tony Deangelo, the team’s new back-up goaltender and several players who are going to be staples in Hartford.

Forwards

J.T. Miller, Bobby Farnham, Cristoval “Boo” Nieves, Andrew Desjardins, Paul Carey, Cole Schneider, Michael Grabner, Lias Andersson, Gabriel Fontaine, Rick Nash, Pavel Buchnevich, Vinni Lettieri

Defensemen

Ryan McDonagh, Neal Pionk, Steven Kampfer, Nick Holden, Ryan Graves, Anthony DeAngelo

Goalies

Ondrej Pavelec, Brandon Halverson

This is a big game for youngsters like Andersson, DeAngelo and Pionk. The same can be said of the Rangers two veterans on PTOs. Farnham and Desjardins are going to have to play high-tempo hockey if they want to make an impression tomorrow night. The battle for contracts and roster spots has already begun. New York Rangers hockey is here.

The Islanders preseason schedule begins today at 1:00 p.m. in a tilt against the Philadelphia Flyers.
