The New York Rangers joined the rest of the National Hockey League in announcing their 2026-27 regular season schedule today, roughly two and a half months out from the start of the league's first 84 game season in over three decades.

The Rangers' 101st season of play kicks off on the road against the Boston Bruins just two days before their home opener on Thursday, October 1st.

The Rangers will have no time for an extended preseason, as eight of their first 10 games come against Eastern Conference opponents. With the Atlantic Division being much stronger than the Metropolitan Division as of late, every Eastern Conference matchup of the season matters in regards to potential playoff points, specifically for a wild card spot.

With the league not breaking for the Olympics this year, the schedule is much more spread out, despite the extra two games. The Rangers have two stretches of five days without games—one at the end of October and one the week before Thanksgiving—in addition to a full eight days off when the league breaks for the 2027 All-Star Weekend which will take place on Long Island.

The Rangers play just six in division games between opening night and the unofficial Thanksgiving benchmark, a total of 27 throughout the season. Their most important months of in division play occur in both December and February when seven of their matchups that month come against Metropolitan rivals.

Throughout the season, the Rangers have just eight back-to-back stretches with their first being games two and three on the season. The Rangers head out on extended West Coast road trips in early November, January, as well as a three game trip to Utah, Colorado, and Vegas in mid-March.

Other notable games include an original six matchup with the Chicago Blackhawks the day after Thanksgiving, a road game on Long Island and a home game against the New Jersey Devils the week of Christmas, a late night New Years Eve outing on the road in Dallas, and a regular season finale with the Toronto Maple Leafs. The end of the season will not get any easier as the Rangers play both Florida teams for a total of three times in their final seven games of the season.

The Rangers play the Islanders, Devils, Flyers, Penguins, and the rest of their Metropolitan rivals a total of four times each. Three of their four outings against the Devils come in a three week span in December.

Vincent Trocheck will make his return to Madison Square Garden as a member of the Utah Mammoth early in the season (game four) on Sunday, October 4th. Will Borgen will play against the Rangers on opening night but won't return to MSG until Saturday, January 16th.
