Peter Holland has been placed on waivers according to Pierre LeBrun.

The New York Rangers acquired him back on November 30 in exchange for forward Adam Cracknell, who coincidentally joined the team via a waiver claim.
He was recalled by the Rangers on January 15th. Holland skated in 17 games for the Rangers scoring a goal and adding three assists for four points while averaging 13:22 a game.
The No. 15 overall pick from the 2009 draft has bounced back and forth between the NHL and AHL, and it appears he’s better suited for the minors with a career 0.88 points per game average in the AHL vs. a 0.33 points per game average at the NHL level.
This season at the AHL level Holland has 13 goals and 20 assists for 33 points in 36 games (0.92 P/GP). Holland’s line after joining the Wolf Pack reads 5-9-14 in 16 games played (0.88 P/GP).
The timing of the move is likely so that Holland is eligible for the Wolf Pack if they qualify for the Calder Cup playoffs. If he were on an NHL roster at the trade deadline he wouldn’t be allowed to play.
Additionally it doesn’t hurt for the Rangers to free up a roster spot for the trade deadline as they were at 23 of 23 spots.
