Carl Hagelin
When discussing potential candidates for a New York Rangers Ring of Honor, it was mentioned that Carl Hagelin was only on the Rangers for four seasons. Hagelin debuted with the Rangers in the 2011-12 season and left during the 2015 offseason. What Joe and Chip did not mention was the circumstances under which Hagelin left: He was a cap casualty who was traded to Anaheim for Emerson Etem and the draft pick that became Ryan Gropp.
Corey Pronman Prospect Rankings
Joe and Chip discussed Corey Pronman’s recent ranking of the 156 best NHL prospects under the age of 23. You would expect that Gabe Perreault, who doesn’t turn 22 until next May and has put up 27 points in 54 NHL games, would be somewhere on the list. But he is not. Pronman ranks 19 players older than Perreault who have played fewer than 54 NHL games on this list:
He also ranks 22 forwards older than Perreault who have failed to average 0.5 points per game in the NHL on the list:
A notable inclusion on the list for longtime listeners is Charlie Stramel. Pronman ranks Stramel at #42, ahead of actual current NHL players such as Shane Wright, Conor Geekie, Simon Nemec, and Marco Kasper.
