Preseason Game #3: New Jersey Devils vs New York Rangers Open Thread

The Blueshirts are back in action for yet another preseason tune up, and tonight will see them square off with their 2023 playoff opponent, the New Jersey Devils.The stakes for this preseason game will be much lower than the postseason series that took place in the spring, as tonight will serve as yet another evaluation opportunity for Peter Laviolette as he inches closer to the start of his first season as New York’s bench boss.

The Rangers will once again be rolling out a lineup ranging from veterans all but assured to make the opening night roster to players destined to return to major juniors or the minor leagues, and everything in between.

Player to Watch: Brennan Othmann

New York’s first round pick from 2021 is set to skate alongside offseason acquisitions Nick Bonino and Blake Wheeler tonight. While Othmann is a longshot to make the opening night roster, a strong performance against the Devils could vault him into the conversation. Keep an eye on Othmann as he looks to make the case for why he should begin the season in the NHL.
