Rangers at Flyers: Preseason Finale Thread
The Rangers preseason ends tonight in Philadelphia
The New York Rangers are wrapping up their 2018 preseason tonight in Philadelphia with a second preseason contest against the Flyers. The last time these two teams met, on Sept. 19, the Flyers won 6-4 after both teams combined for a five-goal first period.
Unsurprisingly, Henrik Lundqvist is not dressed for tonight’s game after playing every minute of last night’s overtime loss against the New York Islanders. Instead, the Rangers will be taking a final look at Dustin Tokarski and Alexandar Georgiev before making a decision about which goaltender will start the 2018-19 season as Lundqvist’s backup.
The Flyers Lineup
- Philadelphia has a ton of established players and veterans in the lineup tonight with the exception of the goal crease. Carter Hart and Anthony Stolarz are the Flyers goaltenders.
- Oskar Lindblom skated with Philadelphia this morning. He had a two-goal first period against the Rangers on Sep. 19./

- We’re getting another look at Ville Meskanen, Michael Lindqvist, and Libor Hajek! So that’s fun.
- The Lias Andersson preseason power performance continues.
- Both Neal Pionk and Anthony DeAngelo are out of the lineup tonight, which is a little surprising. However, veteran defenseman Adam McQuaid is in the lineup. What does that mean for the defense heading into the season? Nothing? Everything? Only David Quinn and his cabal of assistant coaches know.
- In terms of established veterans, the Rangers are dressing Brendan Smith, Kevin Shattenkirk, Jimmy Vesey, Vladislav Namestnikov, Kevin Hayes, and Jesper Fast. Oh, and Cody McLeod is also dressing for this one. So that’s happening./
What do we expect to see tonight from the Rangers less than 24 hours after the Islanders handed the them an overtime loss? Which players will you be keeping a close watch on in this final preseason game? Let us know what you think in the comments!
