Rangers Game Thread: Preseason Game 6, Bruins at Rangers

The preseason ends tonight against the Boston Bruins on the Garden ice. Henrik Lundqvist will be in net for the Rangers and the game after this one, which will be played on October 11th against the Chicago Blackhawks, will actually count.

Tanner Glass is skating in what some think might be his last game with the Rangers and Jarret Stoll is in the lineup and looking to put the finishing touches on carving out a roster spot for himself on the Rangers’ roster- probably at the expense of Glass. The Blueshirts are dressing twelve forwards and seven blueliners for tonight’s game at MSG.

According to Steve Zipay forward Jayson Megna, who will not be dressing tonight, is already as good as cut from the roster. The four players who, according to Zipay, are under the most scrutiny will be dressing tonight.

Four of the players on the bubble will dress Wednesday night. Center Jayson Megna will not, a sign that he is soon to be on the move, either via trade or waivers. If he clears, he will be assigned to Hartford. Tanner Glass and Emerson Etem are the forwards believed to be under scrutiny, and Dylan McIlrath and Raphael Diaz on defense.

As we’ve discussed at length before, the chances of Emerson Etem being exposed to waivers and not making the Rangers’ roster out of camp are very low. After tonight’s final exhibition game the Blueshirts are going to have to reduce the roster down to 23 players. Which Rangers are going to step out onto the Garden ice tonight and make a statement with their play? What does Emerson Etem have to do to alleviate the oncerns of Alain Vigneault and the Rangers’ coaching staff?

Enjoy tonight’s game, gang.

Let’s go Rangers.
