Rangers Recall Berard, Blidh, and Dowling, Assign Othmann to Hartford
The Rangers announce more roster moves as injuries continue to impact their disappointing season.
As expected following the injuries to Noah Laba and Conor Sheary in the New York Rangers' 6-3 New Years Eve loss to Washington, the Rangers are expected to make a series of roster moves.
The Rangers are recalling a full line of forwards from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL. Brett Berard, Justin Dowling and Anton Blidh. For Berard, this comes as his third call up of the season. For Dowling and Blidh, two fringe NHL/AHL veterans, it comes as their first of this season.
Additionally, in order to allow the team to carry 13 forwards while remaining cap compliant, it appears that Brennan Othmann will be reporting to Hartford.
The #NYR have some roster moves coming today, per source.

•Brett Berard, Anton Blidh and Justin Dowling are coming up
•Conor Sheary is going on LTIR (lower body)
•Brennan Othmann is going to the AHL (some cap machinations there to allow the team to carry 13F)
Conor Sheary will be placed on LTIR with what is being reported as a lower-body injury. Pretty evident from the way he limped off the ice following the tie up with Brandon Duhaime. As for Noah Laba, he won't be placed on IR but given the number of call ups made, it's fair to assume he won't be good to go for the Winter Classic tomorrow night. An extremely unfortunate break for the rookie who has been excellent all season long.
Laba isn’t going on IR, but the call ups make it hard to see him playing the Winter Classic. We’ll ask Sullivan his status later. https://t.co/3KcCzyiHKn
