Rangers Recall Connor Mackey, Move Matt Rempe to IR
Mackey rejoins the Rangers as blue line depth, while Matt Rempe heads to IR with a rumored broken thumb.
In a subsequent move following the news that Urho Vaakanainen was listed as day-to-day, the New York Rangers have recalled defenseman Connor Mackey from the Hartford Wolf Pack.

The transaction doesn't come as much of a surprise as Mackey is expected to join the team as the seventh defenseman with Matthew Robertson slotting in for Vaakanainen. In nine games played with the Pack this season, Mackey has collected two assists.
The Rangers are also placing Matt Rempe, who was injured in his fight with Ryan Reaves last week, on injured reserve. It remains unclear what Rempe's injury is and how long he will be out, but speculation points to it being a broken thumb that will keep him out longer than initially expected.
