Rangers Rewind: Kreider’s clutch game-winning goal is the Rangers’ goal of the week

We’re putting a spotlight on the New York Rangers best goal of the week at Blueshirt Banter.

For the second consecutive week, Chris Kreider’s leading our highlight. This time, it’s with his game-winning goal against the New York Islanders.

In their second meeting of the week the Islanders pushed back hard after a 6-2 loss, but goaltending was the great equalizer. Tied 1-1 going into the third, Tony DeAngelo gave the Rangers a lead just after coming out of the penalty box. An Anthony Beauvillier goal once again tied the score with 7:20 to go in regulation.

Less than two minutes after Beauvillier’s game-tying goal, Kreider took a goaltending interference penalty which gave the Islanders a chance to pull ahead on the man-advantage.

The Rangers killed off the penalty and the score and situation remained even, until Derick Brassard was called for cross-checking with less than a minute to go.

On the power play, Panarin carried the puck into the offensive zone and sent it back to DeAngelo at the point. DeAngelo passed back to Panarin, who found Kreider. And with 24.6 seconds remaining, Kreider scored what became the game-winning goal, and the Rangers won two straight against their New York rivals.
