After hearing Vincent Trocheck's name in all sorts of trade rumors for the last six months, the New York Rangers have finally made the move.

Trocheck joins the Utah Mammoth, and in return the Rangers acquire defenseman Sean Durzi, center prospect Cole Beaudoin, and a third round pick in 2027.

This is, by all accounts, a great trade for the Rangers. They get a right-shot, offensive defenseman who can move the puck and slot right into their second pairing. They also get a top-end center prospect who was drafted 24th overall just two years ago, as well as a future third round pick.

Durzi was originally drafted in the second round (52nd overall) by the Toronto Maple Leafs. Making his debut in 2021 with the Los Angeles Kings, Durzi emerged as a puck-moving defenseman who can contribute offensively and be used in a number of situations, including the power play and penalty kill. Durzi signed a four-year deal with the Arizona Coyotes in 2023 with an AAV of $6 million. He enters the final year of that contract this season.

At 6-1, 196 pounds, Durzi has solid-enough size and will turn 28 this October. In 302 total career games, he has 30 goals and 114 assists for a total of 144 points. In 19 career postseason games, he's posted a pair of goals and four assists for six career playoff points. Assuming the Rangers pull off the trade for Marcus Pettersson that has been initially reported, their blueline is all of a sudden in a great spot heading into next season.

As for Cole Beaudoin, he's a 6-2, 211 pound left-shot center who is coming off an 88 point season with the Barrie Colts in the OHL. More impressively, he had 29 points in 15 playoff games in what is surely his final season of junior hockey. At 20 years old, Beaudoin is eligible for the AHL and immediately becomes the Rangers best center prospect.

Here's what Roberto and I had to say about him heading into the 2024 Draft.

Roberto: Beaudoin is an insanely strong athlete that has a pro ready body. He will need some time to refine his skills but his work ethic and physicality alone will bring him far. Beaudoin is amongst the top of the charts in this draft class.

Chris: Beaudoin is a realistic, great choice towards the end of round one. He has the potential to be a solid third line center down the road but needs to work on his skating. He works hard, plays physical, and could be a great investment.

We'll have more about Trocheck's tenure in New York as well as reports on the newest Rangers but for now, thank you for your services, Trocheck. And welcome to New York, Durzi and Beaudoin!
