Rangers vs. Flyers: Well, That Just Happened
A post–Letter 2.0 win over Philadelphia brought goals, firsts, and good vibes… which somehow feels like the least helpful outcome imaginable.
- Gotta hate them, right? Look I'm never going to fully complain about the New York Rangers beating the Philadelphia Flyers, but it's equal parts sad and hilarious the Rangers won that game 6-3, less than 24 hours after Chris Drury released The Letter 2.0, with more heart and compete than we've seen in maybe 20 months.
Chris Drury: We’re going to retool and are going to trade players and be bad so we can get a lottery pick this year.

- Things I can't be mad about in this one: Breanna Othmann scoring his first career NHL goal, and Scott Morrow having an assist.
- Other thing I can't be mad about: Spencer Martin giving up three goals and getting his first Rangers' win in his first start of the year. I went to the game at MSG against Ottawa on Wednesday and saw Martin come off the ice after warmups and hand his stick to a kid waiting in the front row. It was a surprise gesture that kid will remember for the rest of his life. Martin—who was in the KHL earlier this year—probably feels like this is a last ride for him too. Taking it in for one last time. Seems like a good guy. No notes.
