Rangers vs. Kings: Late Night Blues

Points for Miller and Mika, pain for Jonathan Quick, kids getting minutes, and the Rangers inching closer to the bottom—call it all bad, which is good (for now).

  • Did any of you stay up to watch the game? I can't imagine why you should. Or would, if you even could.
  • The New York Rangers didn't embarrass themselves—although they tried to when they allowed a goal 18 seconds into the game. This game, much like the loss to Anaheim the day before, was a game they could have won if they had wanted to. And they didn't want to.
  • They did fight back a little, though. The Los Angeles Kings went up 1-0, and then 2-1, and the Rangers battled back to make it 2-2. They didn't slump their shoulders or give up, at least not right away. That's something, at the very least.
  • J.T. Miller and Mika Zibanejad continue to rack up points now that the season is over. Miller scored two goals, Zibanejad had an assist and now has nine goals and 10 assists in his past 10 games. Where was any of this in October and November? It's a great question, and one I can't answer.
