Report: Brandon Pirri Signs With Swiss Team ZSC Lions
Per a report from an Italian newspaper (La Regione), Brandon Pirri has elected to join Kevin Klein overseas in Switzerland.
The 26-year-old became a free agent when the New York Rangers elected not to qualify him earlier this summer. Apparently there were no teams who wanted to take a shot on Pirri (he has 18 points in 60 games last year), so he’s gone overseas.
I wouldn’t have minded the Rangers giving Pirri a 13th forward opportunity. In sparse opportunities he proved that he can be somewhat helpful on the man advantage, and he wasn’t a total disaster when he was on the ice. His regular season performance started out as hot as his preseason one, but he fell off the map in November and never really clicked. Matt Puempel being the first free agent to ink a deal before the expansion draft really did spell the end of Pirri on Broadway.
Not much to add to this, just another former Rangers lottery pick who might be the answer to a trivia question one day.
