To wrap up a busy opening day of free agency, New York Rangers general manager Chris Drury signed depth forward Taylor Raddysh to a two-year, $3 million contract with an AAV of $1.5 million.

Last season, Raddysh played in 80 games for the Washington Capitals, scoring seven goals and adding 20 assists. A 2016 second round pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning and brother of former Hartford Wolf Pack defenseman Darren Raddysh, Taylor broke into the league in 2021-22 after spending parts of three seasons with the Lightning's AHL affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch.

Raddysh was part of the package Tampa Bay sent to Chicago to acquire Brandon Hagel and spent a lot of time playing on the penalty kill for the Blackhawks. After a couple of seasons in Chicago, including posting 20 goals in the 2022-23 campaign, he was signed as a free agent by the Capitals and spent all his time in their bottom six playing wherever the Capitals needed an extra man. He is likely to compete for a depth roster spot and push some of the younger players, such as Brett Berard and Brennan Othmann, for playing time.
