Traverse City Tournament: Brady Skjei Banged Up, Baby Rangers Grab First Win

The Rangers earned their first win of the Traverse City tournament on Monday.

The Baby Rangers got their first win of the Traverse City season, downing the Baby Blue Jackets 4-0 Monday night.

Both Adam Tambellini and Calle Andersson notched goals and assists while Petr Zamorsky and Hayden Hodgson rounded out the scoring. You can watch the highlights (courtesy of the New York Rangers twitter feed) below:

It's wasn't all good news, though. Brady Skjei -- the Rangers first round selection in 2012 -- sustained a minor injury in the win. From Connecticut head coach Ken Gernander (who is coaching this Traverse City squad):

"It was a minor little ding, and we're just going to rest him [Monday]," Gernander said. "He should be OK Tuesday. He's being evaluated now. We want him to be ready for training camp, so we're just erring on the side of caution."

The Rangers pulled Skjei after the first period as a precaution -- which makes sense since this tournament has no bearing on Skjei's future with the team. Similarly, goalie Brandon Halverson is day-to-day and working out with goalie coach Benoit Alliaire but will not dress for the tournament.

Ryan Gropp, for what it's worth, assisted on the game's first goal and got some positive remarks from Corey Pronman after the first game.

If more highlights are your thing, here's Brad Morrison and Adam Brooks goals from the first game.

The Baby Rangers will play their final game this afternoon.
