The Hartford Wolf Pack opened their first three-in-three of the 2026-27 season on Friday night, visiting the Providence Bruins for the first of 12 matchups between the New England rivals. Hartford aimed to extend their winning ways, while the Bruins sought their first win of the campaign.

It would be the Wolf Pack who drew first blood in the rivalry matchup. Callum Tung stopped all 28 shots he faced, helping lead the Wolf Pack to a 2-0 win.

Oh My Gawd

The Wolf Pack opened the scoring just over the halfway point in the opening frame. Glenn Gawdin carried the puck into the offensive zone and fed Taylor Raddysh on the left-wing side. Raddysh ripped a shot on net that ricocheted off Nathan Aspinall and bounced into the slot. Gawdin skated in and tapped a backhand bid by Jiří Patera to put Hartford in front for good.

The goal was Gawdin's first of the campaign, while Aspinall and Raddysh each picked up their first helpers of the season.

Justin Nachbaur and Navrin Mutter would provide some fireworks late in the frame, dropping the gloves for an electric tilt. The fight was Nachbaur's second with the Wolf Pack.

Neither team would score in the remainder of the frame, and the Wolf Pack carried a 1-0 lead into the opening intermission.

The second period saw the teams combine for eight minor penalties, giving both sides plenty of power play time. However, the penalty kill units were up to the task, denying either side from scoring. Tung and Patera stopped 12 and 10 shots, respectively, to send the game into the second break with Hartford still up 1-0.

OG ENG

Tung continued to hold the door shut through the third period, preventing the Bruins from finding the equalizer. With the Providence net empty and the final seconds ticking off the clock, the Wolf Pack were able to clear the puck to center ice. Raddysh sped for it, jostling for position with Lukas Reichel. Raddysh was able to kick the puck backwards to Justin Dowling, who nailed the vacant cage to seal the victory.

The goal was Dowling's first of the season, while Raddysh picked up his first multi-point game as a member of the Wolf Pack.

The intrigue ended there, with the Wolf Pack claiming a 2-0 victory to start the season 3-0-0-0.

Tung earned his first AHL shutout in the win, stopping all 28 shots he faced.

The shutout follows another strong goaltending performance from Tung, who saved 38 of the 40 shots he faced last Sunday in a 3-2 win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. On the young season, Tung has saved 66 of 68 shots for a 1.00 GAA, a .971 SV%, and two wins.
